Camera Question

I was wondering what kind of cameras you guys are using to get such killer photos of your animals. I am in the market for a new one myself and was just curious what your opinions were.

I am leaning towrds the Nikon D1. Is this a good camera for shooting animals inside and out in the wild? I also plan on taking some photo classes at the local community college but the help in purchasing one sure would be helpful. THX

It is from 1999. It is bulky and outdated.

If you are wanting to jump right into photography with a digital SLR it will cost a bit more than your $400 mark. I would reccomend the Nikon D50 or D70 (D50 is a bit cheaper and more user friendly), D50 runs $899 with kit lens.

I would check out www.dpreview.com . They have excellent forums and camera guides there that should help you in your decesion.

I just got it 3 weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It takes awesome pictures, especially macro (close ups). Here's a sample..

Check out www.dpreview.com It's a really good site if you are in the market for a camera. Good luck!
