Supplies...

Okay, here is what I'd like (if Im not asking too much). I have my basic setup.. Exo-Terra UTH etc.. I would like to know where I can get higher end items (like the rubber in-tank UTH someone talkeda bout a thread further down), as well as maybe light fixtures, bulbs, thermo/rheo stats, timers.. etc so I can upgrade my current setup and use what I have now for backups.

THanks
Jeff

Here's a link to a cheap reptile supply website. The heat mats you're talking about sound like "Kane" heating pads. The Bean Farm has them, but the smallest sizes they have are 18" x 18" @ $72.00 and 13.5" x 36" @ $75.00. You'd need at least a 70gal tank to accomodate the 18" x 18" due to the width of the pad and a 100gal tank to accomodate the length of the 13.5" x 36" pad. My advice would be to stick with the more reasonable high quality UTH's like ZooMed ReptiTherm pads (higher quality than Exo-Terra) for a back up and they're available in smaller sizes to accomodate most tank sizes.

You may want to try Home Depot for some of the supplies. I was able to get a light dimmer for my reptile UTH, clamp/light fixture, clay pottery dishes, timer for the lights, tiles for the substrate and some other items relatively inexpensive. I even got a 12 X 8 glass for the UTH so I can move the UTH without having to peel it off the tank since it wouldn't be attached under the tank directly.

The light dimmer works well to maintain constant 87 degree temps on the warm side of the tank and it's one of those you just plug in.

I had to buy a Zoomed UTH from a pet store though and it ran me 40 dollars as compared to the ~50 I spent at Home Depot. And I'm sure you just have to look around for interesting hides, climbing accessories, and decorations around the house.

Coconut halves work great and only cost 50 cents a coconut. Just have to research on how to prepare them for the leos like any other rock or branch.

Hope this helps,

Tom T.
