Couple new pics

AbsoluteApril Jul 25, 2005 01:53 PM

well shoot. She still has some stuck shed, I thought it had all come off (lots of piece shed in the tank) but there is still shed along her back/spine, the belly and head have shed fine.
Snapped these pics after letting her sit in wet papertowels for a bit, I tried to help hand shed her but then she just started to get irritated...

I didn't want to stress her out too bad so I put her back into her cage, I just switched it from papertowel substrate to the shredded cocounut and I hope that will help allow her to get the rest of the shed off herself...

is that what I should do? (leave her be and hope she gets it off?)

I DO see some pale baby blue along the edges of the white diamonds coming thru, so maybe she'll get some nice blue! I hope! I decided to name her Jade. The male was not in a picture taking mood.
thanks for looking...
-April

Sweet looking critter April. Don't ya love the ones that allow you to hold them without eating you alive?lol. To help with the rest of the shed, place her in an appropriate size tub with a wet towel. Make sure the towel isn't soppy, but with a good amount of moisture in it. Place the snake on the towel and fold it over the body so it has to crawl out. This will usually help, but some animals are problem shedders for quite some time. Good luck and post some new pics when she gets those dirty clothes off.

thanks Brandon! I will try it with the towel, I see how that would have more texture for her to crawl against as opposed to paper towels.
It's funny she was so calm for so long, usually she is a crazy girl and snaps whenever the tub is opened.

Hey April,

Thats a tame GTP, cant wait until it comes out of the "opaque look" into its true beauty. I do have a question for you though: What is meant by your statement that your male GTP "wasnt in the mood' to be photgraphed? Did you try classical music to put him IN THE MOOD? lol lol Hey, thanks for sharing, dont mind the dumb sense of humour, I havent had lunch yet and blood sugar is dropping.......

Cheers

I tried some soft barry white... tried some mood lighting.. even put on some nice perfume.. but he just wanted his beer and the remote control! sheesh, some guys!

Actually the male has typically been much more calm and 'shy' then the female, the day I took those pics is the first time he ever snapped at me so I decided to just leave him be. He did the whole 'hanging the tail off the branch' that same night for a while and the next morning I woke up to a nice big urate/poo present from him, so maybe he was grumpy because of that. lol
What a great image eh?

I'll get some more pics of this lil girl once all the shed is off, I'll give it a shot with the towel tonight.
Take it easy, no more posting until you've had lunch!(j/k of course, it's good to see you around the forums still)

as Meg said, the pic I posted of Goldberg holding a snake is a badly photoshoped amel corn snake. Just posted for fun.

The pics at the start of this thread are of my female gtp, she was a red baby but is now green, her skin looks weird because there is still an overlay of old shed.

just to clear it up..

I wish it was friday!!
