AHA! I knew it!

I have that hatchling Regal Ringneck that was hatched out last Sept--the one that eats a defrosted pinky every three days or so. Well it's grown to nearly 20 inches now, and big enough to probe.... a-a-a-a-n-n-n-n-d it's a female. It so happens I have a wc male from the same locality as the hatchling's mom, so I guess the only way to see it is... I have a pair. The way The Beast eats, she'll be about six feet long by next year--seriously, I'll wait until she's about four years old, then if I still have the male (he eats snakes, but I breed lots of snakes, so he does not want), maybe I'll have a breeding.

Wow... that is an amazing growth rate. Wouldn't be the same growth rate as a regal in the wild though, considering the rodents in her diet is most likely what made her grow like that.

How often do you get a shed out of her? My baby regal shed atleast once a month, as do most of my 03 juvenile northern ringneck snakes.

Definitely interesting, good luck with the breeding.

From what I've heard from friends... The regal ringneck snake population in CA is very small and limited. Their are range maps floating around of where each sub-species of ringneck snake is in CA, you should look for that, and compare the regal's area to a road map of CA... and you should find what you are looking for.

Here is a pic of a 30 inch regal ringneck a friend of mine found in CA...

Hey Vincent, I don't think they have any in right now, but it wouldn't hurt to look as their site isn't always up to date.

If you have any time to go herping, feel free to look for some pine woods snakes for me.

Hello Mike

Thanks for your advice. Herping ? may be not, I heard they have venonmuos snake there. Don't wanna screw up my vacation by venomous snake bite. LOL, if I do have time, I will go looking southern ringneck for myself.

Hello Nick,

Please go to the following web link http://www.californiaherps.com/snakes/snakes.html and scroll down the page, you will find different Ca ringneck subspecies and their location accordingly. Hope this will help.
