Buy a female. They take WAY longer to reach breeding size. When your female is a decent size get a male. Wait untill your female is 1500 grams and your male is 500 grams and learn all you can about taking care of them and breeding in the mean time. MAKE SURE you know how to care for them BEFORE buying one! Good luck and post pics when you get her!

well,as i say,at the moment im more focussed on having a pet,and i would like a ball that grows larger fast,so would a male reach say errm 3feet faster than a female?thanks

Female! Female grows larger. Ball pythons grow dependent on time and food. Comparatively speaking both sexes grow identically for the first little while. It is only at maturity that you can see that the female is larger than the male. Please do searches using multiple key words related to what you want to know on the archived posts. Once you do you will be informed much better. I suggest you do this BEFORE you purchase a snake.

Thank you,

Dave
