ZEE NEWS (Noida, India) 23 July 05 World's smallest crocodiles hatch in national zoo
Kuala Lumpur: Six more baby crocodiles of the African dwarf crocodiles species (Osteolaemus Tetraspis) - the world's smallest crocodile - hatched at a national zoo laboratory.
One of the six hatched yesterday while the other five this morning, said Rozwan Abdul Majid, 40, who supervises the handling of reptiles at the zoo.
He said this was the second hatching of the species in the laboratory after six other baby crocodiles hatched eight months ago.
"Normally, a newly-hatched baby crocodile is four inches long and weighs 150 grams," he said.
He said all the baby crocodiles would be released into their habitat after five years.
