Possible Retained Eye Cap?

MongoDSP Jul 25, 2005 04:57 PM

I know I am probably just being paraniod, but I am wondering if my BP could have retained an eye cap during his shed. It was the first time he shed for me since I have had him. Anyway, both his eyes were really grey before he shed, and I took him out yeaterday after he had shed and it looks like one eye has a small 'wrinkle' on it. Both eyes are clear and I can see my reflection in both of his eyes. So could this be a retained eye cap, or would it be much more obvious than this? Like I said, it's very hard to see any difference between both eyes, and they are both clear and reflective. Thanks, hopefully I'm just being paranoid.

The most obvious way to tell is to check the shed you should find the eyecaps if it came off in one piece. A cracked or wrinkled eyecap can also mean he is dehydrated. Try giving him some fresh water and bumping your humidity a bit and see if it improves.

I could not tell anything from the shed because he somehow shed in his little hide and it was more like a ball of shed instead of a long skin. His humidity is around 70%, but he could be dehydrated because in the 3 months I have had him I have never seen him drink or go in his water bowl.
