Questions about the fake rock walls.. on supplies..

platinumtlc Jul 25, 2005 07:05 PM

I'm currently trying to make a rock wall for the 3 sides of my twenty long for my collared lizards. I went to Home Depot today to pick up the supplies. I picked up Liquid Nails Perfect Glue 1, on the back it said it is good for sticking foam to foam. I picked up All in One Premixed Ceramic Tile Adhesive and Grout. On a website it said tile adhesive, but I saw this and saw it was premixed and it had the grout in it anyway, so I'm guessing this would work to cover the polystyrene? Now this is where I got problems, I went to look for the nontoxic, waterbased poly-acrylic finish, which I read on the same website. I saw "water based polyacrylic finish" but there was nothing that said it wasn't toxic. The lady I asked said that it won't stick to the tile adhesive, so she tried to look at a clear top coat spray, but she said she didn't trust it for the lizards. She told me to go to AC Moore, like an arts and crafts store to see if they had anything, and I couldnt find anything. Is there a brand that you guys used for your finish?
And the foam in a can for insulation, any brand on that?
And the polystyrene sheets they had were pink and about 8-10 feet tall. Do you think I can find places with smaller pieces?

Don't know about sealant but I would think that the water based product would be non toxic like in paints but thats a guess.

The Foam in a Can is callled "Great Stuff"

And you could probally call some companys that work with polysterene insulation and see if you could snag some of their scraps.

My 2 Cents
