High contrast black & white 5 foot WC Eastern Kingsnake

BlueKing Jul 25, 2005 07:25 PM

This large male I found is awesome! He has the highest contrast between his black ground color and snowy white bands that I have ever seen in a wild caught animal. And I found him only about 6 miles from my house! I see the pic turned out ugly, since I had to reduce the pixels in it. . . If I can just figure out how to keep the pics cleaner looking when I shrink them. . . As they always say: This pic REALLY doesn't do him justice!!! Might have to try a close-up later.

about six miles from my house! I was expecting to find a cornsnake there, since I already found three there a week earlier. But then I flipped this large 10 foot x 6 foot piece of tin. . .and there he was and I said Holy (*&^@#$) that's a beauty and a BIG one too!

I love that big cover for making really good finds. I can appreciate your reaction upon seeing that snake. That is about as fine looking king as I have ever seen. It appears to be perfect in every way. Phil

It just doesn't happen that often anymore! I will take some more pics (some closeups) and post them later. . .

Zee, there is no WAY you could lose cool points, man! I'm thinkin'with your eagle eye we need to go find some mountain kings in the not too distant future, how cool is that?!!!
(I'm doing the robot now, for your information) Hey post those Cajun speckies for comparison. Those is "pyoor" Arcadian from the bayou!

that is the kind of coloration and chain pattern that gets my attention.it doesn't resemble californiae or goini or floridana.
getula getula all the way....wwwwwwwwwwwwooooowwwwwwww.
very nice,
daveb

Thanks, Dave! I have caught only one other one that resembles that big one in any way, but he has a higher band count and pretty nice chains as well, but his white bands, although very whitish are not quite as bright as that 5 footer. Here he is, caught him earlier this year in a neighboring county (Richmond county, NC., 37" male)

How'a the little Columbia county animal doing?

Zee

She's doing fine Zee. She's eating me out of mouse & home. Come to think of it, all my dang getulas are pigs.

Good to hear that they're all healthy and doing well!

Man, I'd say Holy $*@$% if I found that king too! What a beauty. Lucky you to have a barn with tin around it so close to home where you can find kings.

BTW, do you use Photoshop to resize your pictures? If you do, once you resize the photo, you can choose the quality you want to save it as ranging from 1 to 12 (12 being highest). The higher the quality, the larger the file size will be though.

BlueKing Jul 26, 2005 08:27 PM

I will have to try that (resizing) and see how it works. Yeah, I admit that snake looks almost as good as your speckled goinis!!! Love them goinis too! I saw your pics, man. They're awesome! If you have any extra ones PLEASE e-mail me!
