well, tonight was feeding night again, and i made my way around counting everyone out and making sure they're doing ok. well, harly, the first satanic i hatched out this season, doesnt seem to be in good shape. first of all, there was only half of the shed finished (first half) must have been from last night. i noticed it dangling upside down from one of its twigs, i thought it was just hangin there after seeing one of the crickets and making a failed lunge. after longer inspection, im now scared that this may be similar to the same thing i lost my very first female to. it seems like coordination of the hind legs is slowly going away. i dont know how serious this is just yet, having just noticed this minutes ago. aside from that, i helped it finish its shed. its been a great eater ever since it got started on crickets, but isnt showing interest in them just yet. eyes are a little sunken in, but i cant tell if thats from that fact that it's going crazy trying to bite me while i help it shed. the hind limbs are still moving, but it doesnt seem like its supposed to. dont know if its because of the incomplete shed or what, but i hope this one snaps back. it would really stink to lose another CB. and to think this one looked so pretty and was doing so well.

Hey Mike,

I had a similiar leg issue with my first CBB Henk...He wasn't even small though, was eating great for months...Then one day I come home, and find him stretched out, and his rear legs sort of twitching..well it took a day or two, and he just passed away...I can't help but think that something he ingested hit is spinal cord perhaps?? Or something ruptured...Since then, on my little CBB henk, I pinhed off cricket legs to be sure...Though I have no idea what happened..

The eyes on yours sound distressing to me...Keep us posted...

sounds more like an injury. Next time see if you can get a necrospy done.

mike if it passes away, get some tissue analsys done. Play it safe, maybe there is something in the environment, supplements, genetics that is causing the problem. Is this one a decendent of that first female?

BTW, my first ebanaui is looking pretty crappy too. She had a few seizures and is dehydrated like hell. I think she'll keel over by the end of the year. This is from heat exhaustion/heat stroke. Our apartment hit 90 the other day. long story short, roomate turned the AC off. we came to the agreement though, one more time with the AC off and he goes (he's short term anyways while his place is being remodeled and what not, friends don't always make good roomates).

man, jason....i am totally there with you as far as the roommates go. it really sucks when all that hard work can be ruined just cuz someone didnt want to go put a long sleeve shirt on. now im with my parents, who i have educated a lot over the past 2 years about what it takes to keep these lil critters. im lucky enough to have a nice, clean, cool basement without the loud music and other things that go on in your average college student apartments. still, the parents can be a bit stressful for ME to deal with at times and i start to think that I will be the one to keel over.

anyhow, things are looking up. i removed it from its setup and moved it to a 10-gal. it was in a small kritter keeper since it hatched, with dried moss fibers and sticks. kinda weird how it just crashed like that, but it's not the first time ive had something like that happen. but theres good news, it's doing better now. i am still completely baffled as to what was going on, my guess is the stress from the move got to it. movement has gotten better, might have been acting weird from me moving it around. one thing hasnt changed and has only gotten worse...and that is the aggression. when i check up on it, and touch it ANYWHERE, the lil bugger gapes and tries to bite me. cant say ive ever seen any aggression like this in a satanic before, especially one that has never been housed with any others. ill try to snap a pic of the lil guy gaping one of these nights, at first it worried me and now i kinda get a kick out of it.
