update on the "dual species" enclosure

golfdiva Jul 25, 2005 09:54 PM

OK, here it is. This is the enclosure my hubby and son built for me last summer. I have been arranging and rearranging the landscape all summer. This is how it currently looks. The soaking dish for the boxies is in the upper left corner behind the leaves (can't see it from this point of view).

Keep in mind that in order to get the whole thing on one picture, I had to take 5 pictures and cut and paste them together. That's why parts of the picture look "weird"!

It does look wonderful. I so wish my DH would get out there & start on my enclosure.
I'm so jealous...

It does look great ! Now that I think of it...I really need a
revamped enclosure. Sure wish my DW would take notes from all those female carpenters on "Trading Places" and build me my Dream Enclosure!!

In My Dreams,
Ric

Ric if your DW builds that dream enclosure for you, send her to my house to build mine too.

I've recently learned that the word "if" has mythical meaning.

While I tried to show my wife the latest models of table saws...in Gloss Turquiose colors; hinting all the time how her first project (NEW TURTLE ENCLOSURE) would give her a feeling of achievement, and pride.

The piercing darts that were radiating out from her eyes conveyed a different meaning. Even Superman had Lead that krytonite couldn't pierce.....Couldn't find my Lead cape.

However you'll be the first to know when... Ahem.. When.. I build it !

Now I wonder why my wife was hinting at how I should cook the next formal dinner and feel a sense of pride???

Just curious, how were the walls of the enclosure made?
Always looking for new ideas.

I'm not sure on the details, but they made the frame first, then stapled on the screen, then hubby nailed slats over the places where they stapled the screen.

There is also rabbit wire attached to the bottom and going about 18" into the ground. They also screened in the top.

There are two boxies and there were a painted and a snapper in the pond. The snapper got too big to share, so she was moved to the backyard a couple of months ago. And, unfortunately, the painted died sometime yesterday!(see post in general turtles)
