Just got one of Steve Angeli's 05 holdbacks

gila91 Jul 25, 2005 11:53 PM

Steve decided to sell one of his 05 holdbacks, and offered it to me. Luckily, I am only about 10 minutes away so I was able to check it our first hand. Anyway, here it is. Notice the six full tail bands. Can't wait to see how it's color develops as it grows up!

Thanks Steve!

Very nice, lucky to live so close. Should be a killer adult too..

After much chastizing from Steve for posting an overexposed photo of one of his holdbacks, here's another attempt. I'm still learning to use my camera, so I take the blame for any image quality problems. This picture shows the animal's color much better. Let me know what you think.

Sam & forum,
Thank you for your effort and your photo is ok, but the color is still not accurate. For those of you who photograph Heloderma you know that your lighting has to be just right in order to get the actual color to come out. Sam,why don't you come over tomarrow and we can get the animal to look as it does in real life. I was sold out this year within a month of my Rio's hatching but I will have a few of my animals on display at the Daytona Venomous Expo , Stop by and Check it out.

Hey Steve,

I will try to hook up with you sometime this weekend. The color isn't perfect, but it's much closer than it was. We'll get there sooner or later.

I should add, I don't think anyone will question that it's a kickass animal.

I stopped by Steve's place this weekend and he showed me how he photographs his animals. Very helpful tips! The biggest difference is his use of indirect natural light which really helps the color come out in the photos. Here's the result. Thanks Steve!

Here's another photo Steve took of my new beaded lizard. It has some unshed skin on it's back, but as you can see, a top notch animal!

Now I will try these new techniques with my own photography.
