Dude that's awesome. That means both of parents are het for hypo. Breed the babies back to each other and you could take a shot at producing the first Hybino cali kings.

But those babies you hatched are hypo, the adults don't show the hypo gene, but they possess it.

I want one.

Not being mean here. Darn, there's that disclaimer! LOL

Although that is a nice looking cal king and appears that way right after hatching, it might change as it gets older. I've hatched them out like that before and they all changed into normal looking cal kings as they got older, except one. Please post some pics of it after it sheds and then after each shed. I'm with you here, and I hope it stays that way.

The one that is pictured here of mine is a double het (albino x lavender). This one kept it's unique "lightness". I will also post a pic with it with another for comparison and I will post pics of others that have changed as they got older.

I'm not sure about the "hypo" part, as I've seen quite a few people advertising cal kings as hypo, some look different, some don't.

These are not from the same clutch. This pic shows a High White with the double het (albino & lavender). Notice how dark the mask is on the High White (normal colored mask) compared to that of the double het.

Maybe your normal is het for lavender and you also produced a double het? Who knows right now.

But I do not agree with Michael's statement that both parent's are het for "hypo".

Kerby,
Glad you stepped in here on this....I was going to, but knew you would soon get to it.
This reminds of the guy who produced some hypoish looking calkings from an albino X lavender pairing.
The normal looking adult in the pic above must be het for lavender.
What do you think?
They are great looking snakes, but this seems to be happening more often.

You can see this lighter cal king. I bred a Mendota (melanistic) to a Newport (het for albinism) and one of them came out light, BUT later after about 6 months looked just like the rest.

So, although it appeared different as a hatchling, nothing came of it.

I wasn't trying to ruin his day or be mean. I even put a disclaimer in my post LOL It was just my opinion, nothing more...the good news is that my opinion is different than others here.....I'll leave it at that LOL

It could still be something new! I would love to see pics of it as it gets older.

I'm actually pretty surprised I forgot about the hypoish babies produced from albino and lavender cali kings being bred together.

Oh well. Saw hypo babies and said hypo.

Yeah I know man but I was thinking he had something until you came along and then I was bummed out. Felt bad for him but it was still fun.

Not so "hypo" looking anymore.

It is a double het though (albinism & melanism)

After first shed.

Drastic change. Not so "hypo" looking.

May not be the same snake in the 2 pics, but were from the same clutch. And the effect was the same on all nine babies.
