Albino King gone more than mad?

obsolescenttears Jul 26, 2005 09:07 AM

So i have posted before with issues with our first snake ( albino striped king female) the little bitty poo's on you whenever you pick her up. lots of issues. its not the tank. well its been prolly at least 2 months now and shes 24in at least fat and happy... only not with us. she started lunging at my signifigigant other when he was making the bed.

we have 2 ball pythons ( male and female) which are my little lovleys. only the male is going blind and the female wont eat... but thats another issue ( who we bought her from were v. bad people the male is eating now though) anyway the balls are on one side of her

we just got a ghost cornsnake. the healthyest of all ours. i though am unable to hold her most times as she flips out ( smell of python on me) so that gave me the idea that the Albino is spazzing because she has snakes on both sides of her.

well last night i go to clean the cages and move the albinos across the room... low and behold the beast has gotten free.

so now i have a people angry albino loose. which is fine. only we have a 2 1/2 year old boy who thinks snakes are the coolest things running about. also we havve a disasterific bastment. ive read the forum. and i do beleive she will come out on her own.

but i feel lost with how to handle this snake. i just hope we dont throw her out with the trash.

so any ideas on
A; her behavior
B; extra ideas on how to get her back ASAP

thankx.

A. Cal kings are like that. She'll likely get better with age, but for now that behavior is pretty much normal, especially for a coastal Cal king (which most albinos are derived from.)

B. Keep an eye out. Nightime is best. You can try the thawed fuzzy in a cereal box laying on the floor next to a doorway, but there is no guarantee. Cal kings can move across a house in a night easily. I've had one make it from upstairs room in the house to backyard where it was found 3ft up a brick planter a few days later. I also found an escaped baby from the same upstairs room in our garage a week later.

problem is we have 4 dogs as well. i just want to find her before they get snake hungry.

i am so shocked you found them. if she got outside we would be doomed ( we live in the woods) and i really dont want that to happen.

Well, don't give up yet. If you had cats, that might be a problem, but most dogs are no problem. I have 2 dogs, and the snakes in both cases had no trouble. You might still find it in the house.
