Luca going to the vet also

uromagnus Jul 26, 2005 09:14 AM

He has not pooped in 3 days and is not doing much of anything. He lays under his basking lights all day, walks around a bit and that is about it. He looks sad. Normally i find him running around so something is not right. I was giving him till this morn to poop and get active and when that did not happen i made an appt for this afternoon. I have givin him a few soaks and rubbed his belly and vent area. Unfortunately i am not used to how these areas normally feel he would never allow me to handle him in this manner when he feels good. I do not feel anything odd (lumps) in his belly. His vent area had a def hardness to it and that is what makes me think he is impacted. does anyone know what this area usually feels like? As always it is hard to make a vet decision but this little boy just is not himself and i can not ignore it. Any advice on soaking, rubbing etc to try and get him to poop? Not sure how often and he sure does not like it (only time he becomes active). I soaked him 2x yesterday and then again this morn

Oh, good! I'm glad it's not an impaction issue. Let us know how the fecal turns out. Poor guy not feeling well!

Vet says Luca looks healthy and his fecal came back neg. He did give him a B12 shot to perk him up and if that does not work in a few days he will do blood work. He seems to feel there is really nothing wrong with him at this point but I am glad I was able to take him for a check-up instead of guessing.

That's great news! I hope he was just having an off day and will perk up for you. Way better to be safe than sorry!
