Asian Vine Snakes: Female Much Larger?

pcmankey Jul 26, 2005 09:29 AM

I have a pair and my wife got them for me and I think she mixed up which was which sex--one is much bigger and I have had them for a year so I don't think it's a growth difference. Does anyone know positively which is larger if either? Especially if one is much larger than the other? Thanks

From personal experience, I would say that as in many snakes, there is a sexually dimorphic size difference in Ahaetulla prasina with females "generally" both longer and with greater girth. This is, of course, subject to individual snakes, ages, feeding etc.
