exercise?

lele Jul 26, 2005 06:58 PM

I do not think Darwin is getting enough "exercise." He is in his big tank but doesn't do much. That's OK. I take him out on his leash (inside or out) and he really just stays put. I attached a long length of line to his leash so he can go pretty far and would be happy to see him run around. I guess I just worry that since he is growing his bones and muscles need a btter workout. What do you guys do to exercise your bd??

btw, once the leash is one he does not seem to mind at all.

thanks,
lele

I have a kiddie pool that I let my two swim in and I let my male walk around the yard when its time to come in since he think's that he's big enough to walk to the door by himself lol. When its to hot to take them out I let them walk around my house but it took them a while to actually start swimming and walking around so just give it some time and kind of nudge him in the back legs to get him started so that he knows that its okay to walk a little ways away from you. I don't have any problems with my baby wanting to walk around and its only a month and a half old. The little brat thinks that its as big as its parents and can do the same things they do so I know that I won't have a problem with the little one getting plenty of exercise.

There are several things i do to exercise my beardies. I swim them in the tub, especially when they are shedding. I bring them to the park and let them run around in the sun. I 'baby proof' the living room and let them run around quite a bit. I set up a full spectrum basking spot when they are out of their tank for more than an hour.

thanks to both of you. I have cats so roaming around the house on his own is a bit tough. I gladly stay with him but he just doesn't go - kick in the butt or not (jk

I bathe him daily b/c he will usually poop and makes cleanup nice and quick! I have a question about "swimming" - when he appears to be swimming I have always seen it as a "get me out of here!" action.

I guess I will just take him out for longer periods of time to see if he will get curious. Nicoleo, he was very active as a baby but now (at not even 6 months) he's like a little old man! lol! I'll just keep trying.
