snakes from northwestern NC

Can anyone identify these hatchlings from northwestern NC, specifically Stokes Co.? I think they are either Eastern Milk or Black Rat. Can't tell from the hatchling photos.

Look like Black Racers to me. Click the link for a picture of a juvinile Northern Black Racer.

They are Coluber constrictor constrictor, the northern black racer.

Grish,
Those are definately hatchling black racers (Coluber constrictor). Where did you photograph them? Are they available to purchase?
Cheers,
Mike C

Hey Mike,
I actually hatched these myself; the pics were taken in my kitchen (gotta cool wife). What happened was I disturbed a clutch of eggs while landscaping at my mom's in Stokes Co., NC. I thought that since I disturbed the nest, they may not hatch in the wild, so I brought them home to incubate them. I own an incubator because I raise corn snakes. Short story long, because they were from a wild population, I released them back into the woods where I found them. Sorry man, they are beautiful snakes.

Yes this is the famous black racer. In his juvie life, he looks similar to a red rat snake. As he matures, the colors go away, and he turns solid black. Some people say green anacondas have the worst tempermant, but I would say the black racer is by far the most aggressive snake, atleast for his size. They will strike over and over for no reason. I have a 3.5 foot green anaconda, and he never bites. black racers just like to bite
