Breeding Question

jtrott Jul 16, 2003 10:33 AM

My male and female have not been together since around November or December, very beginning or January latest. This morning I found her laying on her side, going into, what seems like, a very deep shed. She eats on a regular schedule. Last time she ate was Friday the 11th. She is huge, and has never refused a meal. She is somewhere in the 2500 gram range, if I had to guess. Could this be a sign that he did his job? I thought that the time she was insiminated(sp?) and the time she laid was shorter than this for some reason? Could she possibly be gravid? Or am I looking at finally having little ones after, what I thought, was a horrible winter? Any comments or insight would be appreciated?

You never know! I was under the impression that I was going insane thinking that my girl was pregnant until I found eggs last week. Are they kept in the same house (m and f)? If so, they could have gotten down without you knowing about it. Then again, if your snake is still eating she might not be gravid. My girl stopped eating completely when I started to notice she was getting bigger and she never refuses a meal. I became suspicious when she was acting strange...always in her water dish upside down. But then she shed and she seemed back to normal size. A month later there the eggs were. I would just wait and see, watch her and see if she's acting funny. I doubt this was any help but I'm just bored and I thought I'd try. Good luck!

They are not together year round. They were only together for the breeding season, and the split up again. I have not attempted to feed her this week, Friday is feeding day, but I will wait and see. I am going to try a small rat instead of the usual large, just to see if she eats.
