what makes you think it has rainbow in it? rainbow boas and BCI are a diff. family(or is it subspecies?) and as far as I know cannot be cross bred. Rainbows are closer to anacondas than bci.
Is it because the scales have the rainbow irradesense? (sp?)
Is it something in the pattern?
A pic would help

hey everybody,

im workin on gettin a pic. i lost my cable for my digi so...ill get that asap.

Hes got the typical RTB head and body but he also has the irradesense of a RB and the tail is blotchy like a RTB, more along the lines of a RB. Hes also a lot softer than an RTB. Um, yeah. so. I dunno, i thought it was a subspecies of a RTB, and i honestly think thats what it is. But the guy i got it off of swears its and RB and i know better than that. I know what an RB looks like. So, yeah. ill get pics asap and post a new thread.

People see that Irridescence and think that has something to do with Rainbow Boa.

That would be like comparing a banana to a green apple, and saying the banana has a bit of a green tint, so it may be a green apple.

It can have the same shine, or shimmer, or color, but is a completely different animal all together - different species.

Lots of Boa Constrictors do show that shiny Irridescence, in which it seems you can see all the colors of the rainbow.
Mostly it is seen in darker boas, such as Central Americans and Argentines.

Chances are you probably have a nice common Colombian Boa or a Central American.

A Brazilian Rainbow Boa is solid Red or Orange, and looks nothing like a Rainbow Boa in pattern or shape.

Hope that helps!
thanks, joe
