It is about time!!!

Day 60 at 82F for my thayeri eggs and two have pipped so far tonight. I am still waiting on the other 7.
As far as I can tell the first two are leonis phase. They got that grey leonis face.
I will get pics up when they emerge.
I hope some of the babies get that nice orange from their father, although all thayeri hatchlings are awesome in my opinion. I never seen one I didn't like.
Maybe some Milksnake Phase ones too....

So far all nine eggs have pipped and none have emerged.
Looks like 5 leonis phase and 4 milksnake phase babies....
I will get pics as soon as they emerge and definitely after shed.

2 male leonis phase have emerged...Light buckskin with some peach coloration...Can't wait until they shed.
After they all pipped I had to slit the eggs a little to see what they looked like....I do it all the time.....LOL It makes for good pics too. Anyway....Two of the milksnake phase look just like the orange Vivid male. I wonder if they will hold their color as nice as their father????

.......And here's three more.....
#7, #8 and #9 pics coming soon....
So.. Do they look alright so far?
Not the spectacular saturated babies that I have hatched in the past, but I love their variability and clean colors...
The two best ones (IMHO) are still hanging out in the egg......

The last three finally emerged.
The orangish leonis has no red in the last half of its saddles.
And...The last one to emerge is a male milksnake phase as nice as his father.....You hit the nail on the head Chris G.
Thanks for looking,
John Lassiter

i love the peach overwash on 8 and, you are right, 9 is the one you were waiting for. Congrats on a great hatch.

jlassiter Jul 28, 2005 10:43 PM

Thanks Mark,
And #8 is one of only two females that hatched. Should be a nice orange when it sheds...Not deep dark orange though.
And the male milksnake phase does look alot like dad....
I will work on a group shot after they all shed to show their awesome variability and clean colors.....

Nice John. I think I like 7 the best.

jlassiter Jul 28, 2005 11:21 PM

#7 is nice and clean too....Hell I like them all.....LOL
I wonder what they will all look like after shed.
Thanks Aaron...

Wow John what an exxxcccellent brood of thayeri. I like 5 and of course 9 the best. Those washed out saddles in 5 are great and # 9..............what can I say,... a great representation of a milk snake morph. Uhh..... John I'm adding you to my hate list dude. LOL. I'm sure that after mid August I'll start liking you, Russ, Mike K, and Jonel a little better. LOL

Thanks Chris....
I think #5 is great too. I wanna see em shed for the all popular clutch photo..............

17 more days, eh?.....LOL
I can't wait to see what Big Yeller produced.
I bet you can't either.....HAHAHA
Thanks again for the compliments Chris,
John Lassiter

Oh yes......... you hit the nail on the head John. Your "Big yeller" is quite the stud. He is one of the best sire's I've ever seen. He should give you some remarkable thayeri in the future. I am so stoked that my Luis Torres female and him hooked up and is carrying his gene's in this current clutch I've got cooking. I think I'm going to carry on the tradition and match her up with his son next year. The "sharktooth".

Congrats on your hatchlings John.
It's hard to see a favorite, they're all very nice, but something about #6 must be what you call the sunburst saddles on that leonis and it's kinda looking like a mex mex......hehehe
Best of luck on your best damn yellow leonis I've ever seen too,
Uncloudy

Thanks Mike,
This IS fun, eh?
Can't wait to see the Bodner Thayeri this year.

congrats on the hatchies. I guess you already picked out some holdbacks eh?

I've picked out about 4 potential holdbacks so far and they are real screamers.

jlassiter Aug 02, 2005 07:54 PM

Yeah....I kinda like #6, #8 and #9, but I have lots of them coming up already and should be able to produce some more.....LOL
It is so hard to sell them all.
I only held back one female last year and since I am awfully male heavy (7.2) I may hold back a male (#9 Maybe).
You got yours all feeding already, eh? With those special St. Augustine split mice........
I hope mine eat well.....They are getting ready to shed...Maybe by this weekend.
Thanks for the compliments Russ,
John Lassiter

jlassiter Aug 02, 2005 07:56 PM

I know you guys have all seen this one, but I like her so much I wanted to share again.....LOL
John Lassiter

RussBates Aug 03, 2005 12:09 PM

oh yeah out of 29 thayeri hatchlings from my first clutches, I only have five that are hold out feeders. It's pretty early really to be labeling them in that manner as most always come around. If I had access to live pinks it would not be a problem at all. The funny thing is it's always a smoking hot snake that refuses to feed and never an ugly one.....oops almost forgot "ugly" means smoking hot on this forum.
