what kind of garter snake is that on the upper right of this forum?

Hey everyone, I havn't kept garters since my first when I was a kid. An awesome Alberta red-sided garter snake, she was pregnant and had 19 bounc'n babies. Wow, that was 15 years ago! Obviously I'm much older now and am making more herping trips further from home. What would you think to be the gartersnake hotspots? I found an eastern garter in Wisonsin this summer (I'm sure common for you guys, it isn't native to where I'm from). Next summer I'll probably be in Colorado/New Mexico/Northwestern Texas. Any suggestions for target species?

Ian

Hi there,

Nothin' wrong with eastern garters, lol, i caught one this week and just plain acted the fool, I was so excited! :OP

The garters at the top of the page are eastern blackneck garters from Texas, Thamnophis Cyrtopsis Ocellatus. I'm picking one up later this week from a friend of mine.

Hope this helps,

Bryan
