Turtle trap? Ideas?

branta Jul 27, 2005 09:28 AM

Anyone know where to get/make/or have a humane turtle trap for borrowing? Apparently, a snapping turtle has taken up residence on our pond. The pond is for waterfowl in rehabilitation and these birds need a safe haven while they grow and/or recover (it has taken most of the ducklings) and now the birds won't enter the pond. Knew it was a matter of time before one moved in, and know another one will take its place in time......but it needs to live somewhere else : ).

If anyone has any input or ideas it it would be greatly appreciated.

See you at the next meeting, sounds like a good one!

Jennifer

There is a design for a turtle trap in the Peterson Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians of the Eastern US, if you have a copy. Other than that, I believe that Dean has been helping Paul build some. He could probably offer more insight.

Good day,

Todd
