Stupid Question

You're not allowed to laugh at this question, but what are the numbers you're using before the snake? 1.1, 0.1. I've never seen it before. What does it all mean?

It's shorthand for specifying the sex of an animal. The first digit pertains to males, the second to females, and the third to animals of unknown sex. For example: 1.0 is 1 male and 0 females; 1.1 is 1 male and 1 female; 0.1.1 is 0 males, 1 female, and 1 animal of unknown sex.
