It is short for heterozygous. Which means it carries a trait that when bred with another heterozygous animal for the same trait you should produce a homozygous version which is the visual trait that you are trying to produce. Examples....Albino, Pieds, Ghost

cool that explains it pretty good and now i understand morphs alot better now

Heterozygous means possessing two different genes for a given trait. An animal with one mutated, recessive gene still appears normal; its mutated gene can be inherited by future offspring (pieds, albinos, etc). A codominant animal is heterozygous for the dominant form of its mutated gene, yet is different in appearance than both the wild-type and homozygous forms (pastels etc).

so 25% het clown would mean its one fourth clown?

No it means that it has a 25% chance of having inherited the clown gene.

To break it down as simply as possible.

Heterogenous means that the animal carries one allel of the desired trait. (An)
Homogenous means that the animal carries both allels of the desired trait.(AA)

..want more? ok

So an albinos set of alles would be (AA) and a completely normal animals would be (nn). While a het animals would be (An).

Breeding an albino(homogenous)to a normal animal looks like this. AA x nn.Which produces (An) animals ...hets

Hets are not visable in Simple Recessive traits (hence the name). However to get a visual explanation of it you can always look to the Pastel as it is a co-dominate trait(more correctly an incomplete-dominate trait),meaning the hets are visable.

A pastel(Pa)IS a het for super pastel(PP).Since the het is visable it cannot be reffered to as a recessive gene.

Keep reading...you will get it soon.
