Is it just me, or are Racers some of the longest snakes in the US??

I don't keep racers or coachwhips, but I have a couple big kings, a corn, and a bullsnake. I've seen a few racers in Texas when I lived there, and from what I've seen on TV and in pictures, they seem to be pretty big snakes!?!?! Seems like everyone I see is 6 feet or so.

I'm curious - just how big do most get? It seems like their average length is up there with the biggest rats and bullsnakes.

Most top out in the 7' range. Black rats, Indigos and some Bullsnakes still hold the length records.

average for a black racer is 4 foot, but some specimens in the 5-almost 7 foot range but rarly 7.. Black rats, eastern coachwhips and indigos are the largest in the south.. black rats, top at a little over the 8 feet, coachwhips in the 8 foot range and indigos toping almost 10 foot... but most racers are not that big at all...
