A couple heating questions.

turtlequest Jul 27, 2005 06:06 PM

Im going to house a western hog in a 10 gallon tank with either a under the tank heat pad or flex watt. Which is best? Also, I am going to put this tank on top of my dresser. Will the heat pad catch on fire? I have a thermostat, so i can adjust the temp if needed. I'm just worried about whats the safer heat source to place on the dresser.

Thanks.

Neither will create a fire. If it gets that hot, the dead, stinking, cooking hognose in the take will be your first indicator that it's getting too hot.

FYI: UTHs are completely unnatural for a fossorial animal known for borrowing to ESCAPE heat. It is best to use an overhead heat lamp on a timer.
