Kat and CCcorn have ultramels. If you have Ultras, when you breed it to an amel you should be seeing a percentage of ultramels. This has been proven by many breeders. The typical ultramel has a small amount of melanin (t , not really, maybe)showing with ruby eyes. I will post pics of an ultra ghost and what I think is an ultramel although they were sold to me as ruby eyed ghost and hypo.
If you are not seeing ultramels when you breed your ultra to an amel, maybe it is not ultra.

Here's an ultramel motley.

If you want a good sampling of Ultramel critters, go to the American Cornsnake Registry website and do a Phenotype search for Hypo-Ultramel.

Do you have any pictures of Ultraghosts? I'm not sure if mine is or not, but it has ruby eyes, the typical high yellow of ultras, and it's sister is the previous picture. It will be a few years before I can prove it out.
Yohee was saying that he is not getting ultramels from his breedig of ultra to amel if I understood him correctly. I will see him in a few weeks to see what he has. There may be Ultras that are not giving ultramels.

The pic was of an ultramel... so it wasn't an ultraghost. The pic of the ghost-looking critter looks ultra-ghosty though, and if it's a sibling to your ultramel, then it likely is an ultraghost.

can you explain to me what to expect when buying an ultramel from someone...what should be the characteristics to look for? Ruby colored eyes??? What about the belly checkers, and the borders? I read somewhere that they should be kind of purplish..is this true? Since they vary so much, I was wondering what would be the main thing(s) to look for. Thanks alot, and have a GREAT day!!!!!!

Ruby eyes... if they're young, any border markings will be more purplish. The markings will never be black.

Basically, the best way to describe them is that their color is somewhere between that of a hypo and that of an amel.

Take all this with a grain of salt, as the morph is still new enough that we don't know all the variations of it.

if you think what you have is anything to do with ultra and you have bred it to an amel and got no ultramels than what you suspected as having ultra in it is not. it has been proven as Kat can tell you, that ultra is on the same loci as amel, which means that when ultra is bred to amel you will get some combinations of the two in a percentage of the offspring...

ultra/amel = ultramel
ultra = fairly new (LOL) form of hypo.
amel

those above results should come from breeding ultramel to ultramel.

Ultramel
amels

above are the results from breeding ultramel to anything amel.
i believe these results also will hold true when bredding an ultra hypo to an amel. but, further proof is needed.
