What if anything is being done to remedy this?
Now I work at a pet store chain in NJ, called NJ Pets.
I love the animals and I do my best to make sure their enclosures are safe and adequate.
I'm only a sales associate so I dont have much power when it comes to big decisions, and we had our petty cash cut off a while ago so more money would go into the managers pockets. Now we have to buy the lettuce and baby food and things we need.
We aren't perfect, and I would love to see better conditions and responsibility, but I doubt that will happen soon.
but I walk into smaller pet stores and see how small the enclosures are and how they have heat rocks and how dirty they are, and i'm like, how do they get away with this? Isn't there something being done? Shouldn't there be people inspecting these places, like herp experts who work for the government? I don't understand how pet stores can get away with lousy conditions and care. I would love to walk into some pet stores and shut them down.
