a memorial to a reptilian friend

Here is Speedy, RIP. She had been fighting an infection for months, and I guess the horrible heat wave was just too much. I console myself by thinking that she would have died 4 years ago, had we not found her!

She was a neat turtle. I will try to be grateful for the time we had her, rather than mourning her passing!

Thank you for letting me grieve here for a moment.

Sorry for your loss. Remember that mourning is a beginning to healing and keep reminding yourself that you added four years to her life.

It’s sad and a shame that he died. Hopefully you will find out what type of infection he acquired; so as to prevent another turtle infection in your pen. If you knew he was sick; I would think he should have been isolated. I am not here to pass judgment but to prevent another turtle/ turtles from dying. Did you see a Vet. to determine what type of infection he had ?
And what course of treatment were you giving the turtle.?

Warm Days don’t kill sick turtles; especially when they have access to a pond. Most ill turtles will seek very warm temps when ill to raise their temps similar to us when we have a fever. It helps them fight the illness naturally.
Aren’t you the author of a recent post on another forum.........Stating..and I quote..

“It is possible to have boxies and a painted turtle living together” No sick painted turtle was mentioned here; nor was medical advice requested?

I’m bewildered that you stated above the painted turtle was sick with an infection for MONTHS; yet you kept him with other turtles of different species?....And six days ago all was fine?

I’m sorry for you and for the turtle.
