HL Eggs

Mikal Jul 28, 2005 10:18 AM

It's been a while since I last posted. Last time I posted I had an egg laying HL that wouldn't nest. Unfortunately she past away before I could get her to next properly. Fortunately she left several eggs before she went. I felt it my responsibility to hatch as many possible. Most eggs died however due to dropping around the cage. 2 However stayed fairly healthy. One stopped growing and the other starting sinking in and so I just about gave up when this morning I found a baby HL in my incubator.

We'll see if the second hatches.

Please give advice on feeding and giving water to this youngin.

Thanks,
Mikal

I'm sorry don't remember the specie you have, can you identify the specie for us. You should be feeding it either fruit fly's and pin head crickets, once you have him going you might try an ant of two but refrigerate them for 15 minutes so they slow down and are not as agressive. Usually they have an egg sack and they can be good with out food for a day or two, make sure you have proper basking tempratures and no other adult lizards around to sress the little guy out. If you can post a picture that would help, also if you go to our site there is more information than you can take in a day that will specifically help you out as well. Let us know further. ALso be sure you have a UVB/UVA light bulb which are posted on our site or an equivelant either in a flourescent or mercury vapor, many have went to mercury vapors including myself............You'll need to dust the cricketrs from time to time with vitman or d3 powder which I believe helps as well. LIghtly coat the insects don't over do it.

It's a baby rhino. i'll try to post a picture tomorrow. It's not eating. It sleeps a lot. I figured thats normal this early. I'll give it a day or so. I've got a heat lamp on him with me at work. I'll put UV on him when I get him set up at home.

Thanks for help.

PS
