LNC8756 Jul 28, 2005 03:35 PM

my anole still has not eaten and its been about a month...i dont think theres anything else i can do for her. Im wondering now could this just be old age and shes just not eating anymore until she dies? Ive had an anole before but when she died she didn't stop eating, so i dont know what is wrong wtih this one.

I'm curious, did you ever try to hold the cut end of a small piece of waxworm actually touching the tip of her mouth? Sometimes you can get them to lap up a little as soon as they get a tiny taste of it. I don't think you ever answered about drinking water. Does she?

I have also noticed that it's easier to get them to take something when they are hanging on something pointing up (whether it's water or food). See if you can try this with a tiny piece of the fat from inside a wax worm or at least some water from an eye dropper if she's not drinking.

Hey, I'm no expert, I'm just trying to come up with an idea. These things worked for me but evidently mine wasn't in the same condition as yours.

I have tried cutting pieces of wax worm and holding it in front of her but she just acts like it's not there. I bought some Repta-Aid powder to put in her water which she drinks out of a jug that has a faucet at the bottom. She hasn't drunk any of it and i dont konw why, but she usually drinks out of the sink faucet. She isn't doing well and i dont think i can do anything else, i noticed yesterday that her eyes barely open now and they have crust looking stuff in them. I also read that sick anoles are hard to save, so im not guessing she's going to live much longer.

Sorry to hear she isn't doing better. Sometimes they just won't respond no matter how hard we try to help them. I'm sure you've done your best and that's all you can do.
