Hey all,

Another silly question from the newbie... I was wondering how boney leaftails should be, if at all. I thought all the satanics looked bony, but I wasn't sure if it was a characteristic of the species or not. Check the photo, and please let me know what you think...

Also, if she is a little on the skinny side, what is the best way to fatten her up? She gets crickets every night, and defecates daily, so I know she's eating well. The crickets are gutloaded with WER gutload. I try to grab as many crickets as I can each morning (the gather at the top in the back of the cage) so at least half are freshly gutloaded each night...

When they are fresh imports they tend to have that kind of look to them. It'll take time to fatten her up. I would try dubia roaches. they are typically fatter and hold vitamin supplements better. Also, they can not climb glass or fly.

Oh good... I just want to make sure its normal. Even if its something that needs improved on, its still good to know.

I actually just got a small culture of orange spotted roaches (those are dubia I think...) and have some orange headed roaches on the way. Hopefully I'll be producing enough to start feeding in a month or so...

If there's anything else I can do until the roaches are self-sustaining, I'd love to hear any ideas.

Thanks!!!!

I will take at least 3 months for your roaches to become that prolific.

I'm about to buy some dubia's myself, but i need to buy atleast 100 to start my colony just to make it even worth while given the size of my collection (over 65 mouths to feed plus more coming).

Three months you say? I started with several adult pairs, so I was hoping for enough food for one before then... OH well. Better to wait than to lower production I suppose...

They're kindof a neat little side project. I'm surprised at how much I like them. The females especially are really neat.

76 mouths to feed?!?! Are all of those geckos, or do you keep other lizards too?

65 mouths I mean... LOL. I think its time for me to get some sleep....
