My Water Dragon is Gaping His Mouth

skotos Jul 29, 2005 10:56 AM

My juvenile water dragon is gaping his mouth a lot. I got him a warmer bulb for basking which makes it 97 degrees for basking. Is there anything else I can do? I am afraid he has a resperatory infection.

Gaping also occurs when temperature is too high, or after a large meal. Gently rub from the throat forward and see if any fluid comes out, if so, then it is likely an upper respitory infection.
