Green Algea on my Dwarf Caimen...

Rene Jul 29, 2005 03:37 PM

I know I have posted this question before but to me it just doesn't seem like she should have this much algea growing on her. I rarely see her leave the water. I am going to change her land area to sand today and see if she prefers sand to the small stones? Anyone have any info on what kind of chemical I can put in her tank to cut down on the algea? Thanks Rene

hi...

does he has a hide??? maybe he feel safe in water because he´s missinga hideing place... this guys prefer land than water, no matter if this is sand or small rocks...

if you provide a hide, your croc will spend almost all day in it, and go out only at nigth (arrond 8 to 12). mine do this...

hope it can help...

good look

What do you use for a hide for a caimen on land? Should I put some kind of plant or a box??

Thanks again

your´re wellcome..

I use a big stone as a cave... he loves it..

also some plants floating could help to make him feel safe when he´s in the water... and some plats around the enclosure so he can also hide there at his nigth walks...

Hey man,

Been a while since you've posted last. Welcome back. Anyways, that dwarf's enclosure looks great. He must be one happy croc. Keep it up!

Best Wishes,

Chris

I know... I´ve been working a lot...

I hope my dwarf to be happy, he´s my favorite corc, but he´s a monster; past days, when Emily hurricane hit Mexico, I took him out from there, and he bite me every chance while I was handling him...

I also love my other guys (morelet, acutus and gators)... but this is my favorite...

after the hurricane I decide to take away the sand, it was very abrasive for my water pump, and turned water very cloud, instead I use some medium-samll size rocks for substrate... hope this works better.. will post some pics this week...

is there any way to upload a video???

best wishes

Rick

Rene, it looks like you got a SPECTACLED CAIMAN instead of a dwarf species.

I didn't mean to say dwarf caimen I meant to say Diamond Caimen!! lol.. I am new to all of this!!!

Thats fine. If you dont like it decrease the wattage of the bulb and/or give him less lighting but keep the heat using somethng like a ceramic heat emitter. I seen dwarfs before that had it growing on them like hair. Good camo. Take it easy.
