So, my baby mali seems to be developing blues on his head and very subtle blue hints on his back, just in the past week...? I've heard of cross breeding and/or pet shops not knowing what they have. So, is it possible my mali isn't a mali?

No, your mali is indeed a true mali. What you're seeing is the beginnings of a shed. My male mali has turned this "blue" colour before and he shed it in a few weeks time.

Your mali looks like he/she is going to begin shedding skin soon. Loooks like a normal mali to me.
