introducing 2 tegus

what are some common steps you've heard of people taking for introducing 2 tegus about the same size

First thing you do is sterilze your cage. Then put them in at the same time . Then you want to watch them as much as posible t5o make shure they get along. Good luck russ

Or better yet introduce them on totally neutral ground (a room in your house or something). Watch them CAREFULLY for a LONG time...in fact it's probably best not to leave them alone together until you've observed them over SEVERAL sessions and there has been no aggression.

Tegus can be co-habitated, all six of mine spend most of the day together out on the porch (theres just nothing funnier than seeing six big tegus dog-piled in the sunny spot...LOL) ...but be VERY careful when introducing simply because tegus are POWERFUL animals and if you do walk away and they decide to fight (oh yeah...WEAR GLOVES in case you do have to break up a fight!) a great deal of damage can be done in a very short period of time.

Good Luck...and do follow Russ's advice about sterelizing and rearranging the cage...what that does is prevent the original animal from feeling like "his turf" is being invaded.
