Does/Will anyone have 03 bloodreds available?

carl3 Jul 16, 2003 01:17 PM

Most are hatching out in August, BUT I was just curious.
If not, feel free to post any bloodred pics.

He's not yet a year old, but I think he's already a beauty.

I can't wait to breed him!

I purchaed my okeetee (my first corn) from Don, and that one got me addicted to corns. I have 2 on order for this year, a blizzard and a bloodred. Amanda, that bloodred is just gorgeous, I can't wait unitl I get mine. Some I have seen aren't quite as brilliant as yours. I sure am glad I ordered from Don. I agree about his customer service and his snakes are absolutley beautiful.

Your bloodred is extremely beautiful. And I totally agree about South Mountain snakes and service. Can't get any better.

Female yearling.

Yours is just as beautiful as Amanda's. Did you hatch yours, or did you purchase? Why do some of them look kind of dull and not so bright at the same age as yours and Amanda's? In fact some of the ones I have seen kind of look normal.

They are all different, and you never know, some of those "ugly ducklings" may turn out better than the pretty youngsters. I bought my from Shannon Brown of High Sierra Reptiles.

She's getting better, but still not what I would like.

She still may end up being a good bloodred, but not like the male. Even if she does lose all of the patterning and become more of one solid color, shes going to be more orange than red.

As a snake I don't think she's ugly, but as I bloodred, I do. However, the fact that she's most likely het for something makes me want to say it's okay. I figure that the outcrossed bloodreds aren't going to look as great as other bloodreds.

I keep thinking about getting another bloodred female, but then I keep thinking that I'll just wait and hope that the male passes more of his genes to the offspring than she does, or that she ends up being good too, just taking a long time to do so. (Actually I know I would have more bloodreds, except my husband say no more snakes, at least none that I don't breed myself.)

I also would like to create some triple hets breeding my male to my female ghost, so using him as the bloodred for the project should work well for that at least.

Here's the most recent photo of her:
