Is it a big NO NO to peel a zoo med UTH off of a tank for another tank???

Turtlequest Jul 29, 2005 08:43 PM

I want to move a 6 month old 30 dollar heating pad from one tank to another. I managed to pull off the heating pad with very little bending, and quite easily. It this now a hazard?

Anyone else ever do this?

Thanks.

Hey,

I've had to tape it back on and it still worked fine, but if it gets a little bent it can short circuit or heat up hot in one area and cooler in another....

Best bet is to tape it up and leave it for a few days, hit it with a temp gun and if it's ok, leave it. Or better yet just switch to heat tape and a thermostat...more expensive but exact!

I've done it as well but had to use tape to re-attach.

But I agree you should move to a different kind of heat sorce pads are ancient tech. Radient panels or the suggested heat tape or even heat rope on a thermostat would be a much more wise choice in my opinion
