i personaly think you shouldnt go a day without feeding your dragon ,and and you should NOT take the lamp off the cage.if you want to go on a vacation do what i did with my doggs and birds(before i got my beardie) have someone you trust come to your house eachday and feed/water/play with your dragon for you untill you get back...if you dont know anyone then i would advise you not to go on vacation or take your dragon with you....but agian thats my opinion

IDEA: if you are going places where you can take him/her
such as a hotel or the like
get a 20 galon "reptarium" from a place that carries them and the bring a light and some basics.... most places you can locate a pet store that has crickets, or a bait shop that has superworms.
the "Reptarium" are like a small pup-tent and the 20 can be hand carried easy. can be taken apart to store if you need to.
if you will be at any hotels etc... just have a small sign made that tells the maid it's ok & that he won't bite etc...
see if that idea could work for you... and your dragon!

Your bearded dragon needs to be fed every single day and have his UVB lamp and spotlight on a cycle (close to 12 hours on and 12 hours off- varying by the season). If you leave him home alone and don't have a timer on the lights, he will get too stressed out and complications will surely arise.
Also, what happens to all the poop during your absence? If he walks in it or gets it in his vegitables and eats it, he could get sick.
Please have a responsible person feed your dragon and clean up his cage while you are away. They can either come over and feed him or you can take his cage to their house. Just be sure to set the lights up for them as I found out the hard way that not everyone can follow just written or verbal directions.
How old is your beardie?
Thanks, folks, for the responses.
Some have suggested bringing the BD along in the car. wouldn't that be a bit traumatic for the little guy?

I personally think it depends on how far the drive is. I drove 2 hours with my beardie and she was fine. She even went to sleep. I put her in a 20 gallon reptarium (the cage made out of mesh) to transport her in so that she felt safe. I would highly recommend purchasing one if you plan on taking him with you.
