aloreptiles Jul 16, 2003 01:28 PM

i recently purchased a hognose as a calico, it isnt a normal hog i can tell that but it doenst looks like a calico retic. but it does has a array of colors the sides are all orange the blotches are greenish the back ground is whitish. it is a good looking hog iam going to try and breed him this season to prove if he is genetic. if any one can post a pic of a calico hog ill really appreciate it. the pic is of a mexican hog

Is it a Western or a Mexican? I never caught that.
The word 'calico' is subjective. Most people use it to mean a morph that looks a lot like the 'calico' retic. Also check out a recent thread in the ratsnake form about a calico BRS. There's also a calico chinese beauty snake.
But whatever it is, the question is... is it genetic? All you can do to find out about that is breed it! A pic would be nice too though. I'd breed it to another exceptional animal, like maybe a really nice red phase (if a Western). Nothing wrong with starting a morph line out right!

Looks like a normal mexican hog, I have never heard of a calico, but I guess with todays thurst for money, sellers will call anything different to try to get more cash.
