How big is that snake? It's gotta be pretty big if it's eating a weaned(?) mouse. My biggest 04' hatchling is probably only around 26" long and the biggest he'll take are hoppers...

Was that a live mouse? I'm assuming it was by the way the snakes constricting. Nevertheless, beautiful snake man, I'm Jealous, and so is my girlfriend!
Just because of the way a snake constricts... you can't tell if the prey is alive or dead unless the photographer states it. If I would drop a mouse into any of my baby cali king's enclosures, half of them would catch it in mid-air, and wrap around it as if it was live prey....

Well, I guess they all differ. My snake flicks the prey with the tongue, then it pounces on it, but if I throw a f/t in, she'll just grab it, maneuver it around with her mouth and consume. She's never constricted a dead mouse. I understand where you're coming from. I guess it was foolish of me to say something like that. Sorry if I offended you.
Yes, I feed live. Always have, except a few times that I've fed f/t. I feed about 5,000 live rodents a year, have been since the early 1990's. I do thump them before putting them in the cage though.

Wow, that's a good idea. That knocks them out, or does it just make them ultra-stupid and not know what's going on? Do they still move after you've flicked them on the head (I assume you mean flick by "thump"?)
I hold them by the tail and hit their heads pretty hard against the snake rack and then put them in. Sometimes they are out cold, but most of the time they are in convulsions.
