More eggs from my big ol MBK!

Nokturnel Tom Jul 30, 2005 12:32 AM

This snake makes it so easy.... The stress is always there for me when waiting on a snake to produce and recover. However this girl is the best. Another year of nice double clutches. Clutch one had 13 eggs and clutch two had 11. I put her in her water dish and she drank, soaked for a few and went into her custom Frosted Flakes box. Clutch one hatched and half ate already, some twice on f/t. I must ask other people who work with these.....do you feel this is one of the easiest Kings to work with? I sure do. 6 years ago I went to a show to buy a tri color. This female was so sharp as a baby I bought her instead...and even saved a buck. Gotta love the MBKs!

Excellent Tom. I've always loved the Mexican Blacks. How large is your female? Post some old pics of her when you get a chance. I had a MBK a few years ago and regret selling him. If I remember, they tend to be very large as babies. The one I had was a somewhat huge hatchling I had purchased from John Cherry.

yes the MBK's are great kingsnakes, Do your's have the small white spot under their chin? thanks in advance

Nokturnel Tom Jul 30, 2005 11:48 AM

Yup, my female has no white but for the chin spot. The male has some near his belley which carries into the offspring but they're very glossy so it's all good. Tom Stevens

Tom...
Have you ever hatched one that was Splendida-like?
And...Do some of the babies have patterns as hatchlings, but lose the pattern after a couple sheds? Or do yours come out dark and stay dark?
Just wondering....The two females I got from you years back are nicea and dark...One has the chin spots and one has some remnant pattern on the edge of the ventral scales. I still need a nice male for them before next year.

They have the faintest pattern when they come out of the egg but it is not very Splendida like. It vanishes with the first shed. The white specks near the belley comes from the male. Both adults are glossy...and I am happy with the offspring they produce. I saw an 03 and and 04 I produced recently and they were sharp. I love these snakes Tom Stevens

Tom, Have you ever tried Gaigeae? If you think MBKS look glossy you should see some of my Black milks! ( I really like MBKs too! Good luck.

Oh yeah, I have a pair of Black Milks too. I love em both, and the huge adult size of the Milks is impressive. Actually they're even easier to care for too. Tom Stevens
