im officialy addicted to snakes

goregrind Jul 30, 2005 03:02 AM

this summer vacation i bought my second ball python and only a week later an albino cornsnake and its only been about three weeks and ive only had three nights this week that i stay up holding my snakes and surfing the web researching to figure out what i want next and what i want to put in its cage until sunrise then i sleep a few hours then work to support my addiction. i think i should get a snake that is active in the day so i dont have to become nocturnal!... but then i just wouldnt sleep or work lol. i bought my first snake on new years and its only taken 7 months to take over my life! can anyone tell me how long i have before i buy the "hot-herp" or burmese that will end my life or at least make me a quadrapalegic (spell check please). is there a cure or have i gone insane?

First thing I suggest is to go out and buy some good basic references on snakes for your library so you can get a better idea of what you are getting yourself into.

This can possibly spare you the disaster that will happen the first time something goes wrong with your collection.

What troubles me is how many young people buy strange and exciting snakes and are clueless about how to feed and care for them (as evidenced by the numerous begginers questions on these forums.

The cost of the books will limit the amount of snakes you can afford, but will pay you back in the snakes that you don't make the mistake of buying out of ignorance.
