REVIEW-JOURNAL (Las Vegas, Nevada) 14 July 04 New hormone may help diabetics (Joelle Babula)
A lizard hormone may help people fight diabetes and obesity, according to researchers at a meeting of the American Diabetes Association.
A man-made version of a hormone found in the saliva of Gila monsters can help reduce blood-sugar levels when they are too high and suppress appetite.
Initial hormone studies indicate that the man-made drug helps diabetics maintain normal blood-sugar levels and lose weight.
Side effects include nausea, which eventually goes away.
