my uro is generally very healthy, active, and a good eater. she used to have a b.m. everyday. lately, she hasnt been pooping nearly as much as normal. she has become very bloated around the middle. i havent changed her substrate. shes about 6 years old, and has always been on washed, sifted playsand. i feed her on a hard plastic plate, and not much sand (if any at all) gets into her food. (i generally watch her eat)she is still going to the bathroom, but it is much smaller than normal. also, there is usually a liquid along with her poo.... (almost like pee) but lately, i havent seen any. she is still eating like normal. just not pooping like normal. im getting extremely nervous. the vets out here arent all that knowledgable about uros- thats why i came here. ive read that raisins can help constipation. im going to try those tmrw.
any ideas on how to get her b.m.s back to normal?

thanks in advance

Liz

well it is hard to say for sure. if she stopped having the clear liquid, maybe she is not as hydrated as she used to be. has anything changed in her diet? i have no idea what your house is like, but is it hotter in there maybe making it hotter in her cage? does she look lumpy? like is it possible that she has eggs in there (i have no idea if being gravid would make her BMs change)? maybe try giving her a soak in some warm/hot water for 10 minutes or so. sometimes that helps stimulate a BM and if she is thirsty it will give her a chance to drink some water. just make sure you dry her tail off when you are done. i have no idea about the raisins

It could be a parasite problem that has been slowly progressing. I'm not sure when you had a fecal done last, but you may want to have one done. It could be the start of a parasite problem. You said that she has been on washed playsand for 6 years. Has the sand ever been replaced or baked once a year?
