How big is he? Can you post a picture of the bottom of his upper thighs?
From the coloring I might think male, but his lack of spikes suggests female.

From the femoral pores I would guess it is a female, or an immature male depending on length.
Here is my little male at just 18 inches long...you can see he has good sized spikes already.

In my opinion the best way to tell male from female is to look at the head compared to body size and the fleshy crest behind the head. Spike size, color, and femoral pores are all relative to the population that your WD originated from and doesn't help you unless you have males and females from the same population. Regardless of where they are from you can be sure that the male will have a larger head and a larger crest.
