I got myself a project!

Markus Jayne Jul 30, 2005 05:44 PM

Last week I had 3 eggs due to pip. They were from a ghost X normal breeding. In the eggs 2 of the hatchlings looked normal but one displayed great color. It was the first to try to emerge from the egg but it was very small. It couldn't quite make it out so after a while I pulled it out only to discover that the yolk was rock hard and sitting in a massive lumb on the bottom of the egg. The umbilical cord was still attached so I cut it off and place the very small hatchling on a damp paper towel.

As you can see the color is amazingly vibrant, however this little male weighs only 16 grams!!! Yep...I got myself another project. Wish me luck.

Sounds a lot like my classic jungle male. He was top of the clutch and climbed out first right after slitting leaving his yolk behind. This is what makes me think classic jungle might be stress induced. He was also small but he ate and turned out ok.

I don't think for a minute that this little guy is genetic. I think that something went wrong during the incubation process and he is a product of it. And yes I agree the classic jungle is the same.
