most people say a male can breed an average of 5 females SAFELY but im sure it depends on the size of the male, also i try to feed my male after every other pair up that i visually see copulation unless its his normal time to eat ,staying locked up for 24 hours can be quite draining of energy so keep him fat and fed and use common sense

can they keep breeding every year or do they geet to old?

They can breed once a year for quite a long time. I think someone has a female thats around its 20's or 30's around here that's still breeding...but I can't be sure. My oldest is close to 10.....

That depends on a number of factors, including age, size and experience. For more info, you might want to read the following article. It deals more with the issues of the weight/size of a breeding male but could ad insight.

I have gone for 1:5 but find I'm not very successful. 1:3 seems to be a much better ratio for me. You can have successful breeding in a single encounter or nothing when they are together for weeks. I like to breed them long and often to increase my chances of fertility.
