i have a spiny softshell turtle that i have had since a baby. Right now he's in a 40 gallon tank. The filter i have now is a fluval 3. It really isn't kicking it now that he's bigger. I was wondering what is the best filter to use with sand in the tank?

you should look into a canister filter. they go on the outside and you run tubes into the tank.
